Every summer, Hokutoh sponsors an event called “Noyaki.”
Noyaki is one of the most primitive methods of firing pottery, wherein a fire is lit upon the soil and allowed to burn freely in a controlled area.
During Noyaki, potters - who work intimately with the soil - express their gratitude to the earth. Each year, many people look forward to this event which concludes our summer.
Non-members can also join us during Noyaki, and each year many people visit us from as far away as Tokyo to participate.
